Young Women's
Preparatory Network
Founded in 2002, the Young Women’s Preparatory Network (YWPN) is a nonprofit agency that partners with public school districts across the state of Texas to operate the largest network of all-girls, public, college preparatory schools in the nation. YWPN schools are located in struggling urban neighborhoods and have proven to be very successful. The schools have won multiple academic achievement awards, including being recognized amongst the top public schools in Texas and the nation.
The students of YWPN learned about how the microstructural molecular composition of a material affects its macrostructural strength, glass as a phase of matter, temperature and its affect on glass, along with other STEAM subjects during their week-long camp. As their final project, the students designed and created a fused glass installation, "Rising Up - Sparks of Sisterhood."
